Hayley is a Boston veterinarian who deals with small cats. Many of them are show animals and all the animals and their owners have quirks. She hates it. She was given the business by a relative, so she can't be ungracious enough to walk away from it. She'd rather deal with larger animals but she won't find that in Boston. Not only is her job a disappointment, her relationship just ended and she suspicions that he had the other woman in the picture the whole time they were together. She needs a vacation and going to be in her friend's wedding should do the trick.
Loveswept and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It has been published, so you can grab a copy now.
When Hayley meets Daniel, the large animal vet who treats the horses on the ranch, she's surprised to find he's nice, a good vet and fun to be around. Just when she thinks it might be worth pursuing him, she finds the two young girls on the ranch are his children! She knew he was widowed but no one had told her about his children.
They both wiffle-waffle back and forth about the relationship that's blooming. Daniel knows no one can replace his lost wife; Hayley knows men can't be trusted. Just to make it even more complicated, the author throws in Daniel's ex-mother-in-law. She wants to get custody of the girls and threatens to go to court over it. She also fills Hayley's ear with untruths so she will get out of Daniel's life.
I enjoyed reading this romance. I like western stories and a bit of romance. The conflict keeps it interesting. Here's a nice book for a cold day. Find a comfortable chair, some hot chocolate and read!
