The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop by Kate Saunders

The big change in their life begins when they inherit a house.  There's a shop on the first floor and magic is all around...

Delacorte Press sent me a copy of this book for review (thank you).  It is now available for sale at your local bookstore, so grab a copy.

Oz and Lily are twins and they aren't real enthused about this move.  When they find out the shop below was a chocolate shop, they feel a little better.  Then they sampled some chocolate and they were sold!

The chocolate is magical and nefarious folks want to get the magic recipe and take over the world.  How can two small children stop that?  Especially when one of their own uncle's is trying to locate the magical recipe, too?

My favorite part of this story is the animals.  There's an invisible cat that only Lily can see (she gets caught "talking to herself" a lot), a talking rat who's friends with the cat, and an invisible elephant.  All these strange creatures are an integral part of the story.

Ms. Saunders weaves a great adventure tale with lots of action and adventure as well as magic and brave young children.  Not all eleven year olds must save the world.

I really enjoyed this story and I'm sure young ones will, too.  I won't tell if you buy this and read it first.  It's a good fantasy tale.

Happy reading.
