If you died and then were revived, would you see visions of heaven or hell?
Felsen Press and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read an ebook of this for review (thank you). It has been published, so check where ebooks are offered for a copy.
This is not a story about crime. It's about Jack trying to get his Dad to pay some attention to him and going about it the wrong way. Jack's mother died long ago and his father is a chaplain that serves the police department as well as his other appointments. Jack becomes a cop to make his father impressed. When that doesn't work, he decides to be a "bad" cop so his Dad will have to counsel him. When his father dies unexpectedly, he still has the money that has caused all of his problems and he's been reassigned to street duty. Now his father can't save him and the drug dealer is after his life. Can it get worse? Yes.
When Jack is shot by the drug dealer and they keep him alive, he has descended into the pit of hell while on the other side. He's determined to right this by himself, but he wants to keep himself whole at the same time. Bad choice.
Mr. Kannengieser walks Jack through fire on earth and takes away all that brings him joy. I wasn't sure Jack was going to come out the other side but he does with some new insight into who he is, what he needs to do make amends, and a determination to get his love back. I'm not sure how that will all work out, but I'm rooting for Jack. He finally grew up.
Happy reading.
