Maya and the Beast by Maya Gabeira

Maya has made her mind up to ride the beast, an overpowering wave.

Abrams Books for Young Readers sent me a copy of this book to read for review (thank you).  It has been published and you can get a copy now.

Maya was shy and scared of many things, but when she picked up a shell, it spoke to her.  It assured her she could surf the waves despite the boys nasty comments.

She practiced and practiced.  First on the beach, then on small waves.  As she improved, she found her  shell and it encouraged her.

Do you think she managed to conquer the beast?
