When the egg hatches, the gosling is bigger than her others and looks dirty.  He's good at getting eels for the leader of the animals.  But as time goes on, everyone turns against him.  So he flies out of the barnyard and ends up in swampy ground.  

He sees swans there and they are beautiful but they fly away before they see him.  He eats and rests and suddenly the swans are back.  He goes to see him and they welcome him.  He doesn't realize he has changed so much.  He has a surprise coming...
