He takes a walk out to the peaceful grove and sits. The tree asks him what's wrong and then gives up a branch. He takes the branch home and carves five daughters out of it, each one smaller as he goes. His wife treats them like daughters and their home is happy now.
Then the woods warn him of danger. He runs home and finds a huge smoke wolf trying to steal his children. He scares him away and then they take the children back to the tree. When they put them in a hole in the trunk something amazing happens...
