Ronan Boyle and the Bridge of Riddles by Thomas Lennon

Ronan's parents are in jail because someone stole an ancient mummy from them before they could transport it to the facility that protects artifacts.  The authorities accuse them of selling it and jail them.  Ronan knows they didn't and he wants to prove them innocent..  So he applies to the secret garda.  They are an Irish police force that try to keep the wee folks from creating trouble.  There are leprechauns, elves, trolls, and a whole lot more to deal with.  Can an awkward small young man with defective eyesight have any hope of winning?  He's determined to do so for his parents.

Amulet Books sent me an ARC of this book to read for review (thank you).  It is being published today.

Ronan has all sorts of dangerous adventures with his boss, who has taken him as an apprentice.  He tries hard, stumbles into a solution here and there but never worries about himself.  He's saving others.  He even sees the man he suspects got the mummy but the man keeps on the move and he can't ask him about it.

With lots of odd little monsters, plenty of action and puns and silliness spread throughout the story, I'm sure any young adults would enjoy this story.  It was an excellent read that kept my attention and made me laugh and I'm a lot older that that!

There's an ironic twist at the end that lets you know there will be more to come.  I want to read what happens next, it's a very good read.
