Several knights gather to meet another at the castle he said he would come to. But he never arrives. They know he was in the Wild Wood and there are rumors he's headed for another castle. So the knights split up and go in search of him. They'll find many things but the knight won't be one of them...
Pushkin Children's Books and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published December 4th.
This is a fascinating tale of war, brotherly differences, romance, and mixed goals. A young knight is one of the central characters and he matures on this quest. He has his squire, his horse, and the fool with him. The fool knows his way through the Wild Wood but not much he says makes sense. The bad news is that the opposing knights are also familiar with the forest and they are looking for hostages.
There's a touch of magic, the mystery of the woods, the green men, and various battle schemes going on. It's not a fair fight, both bad and good die, and you can't be sure the young knight will survive.
The story is well developed and holds your attention. This is a rich, busy tale that was a pleasure to read. I'm glad I read it, I enjoyed it!
