Living at home hasn't been pleasant for a while now, so Maisie decides to join the woman's service to get away. Unfortunately, she's too young. But she can join a group of female timbercorp. Come, learn to chop trees and be lumberjill instead of a lumberjack...
Harper Teen and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you) It will be published August 28th.
Wars are ugly things and those who fight in them come home with wounds of the body and wounds of the mind. When Maisie dances with a Canadian, she's amazed that he leaves her on the dance floor and disappears. She thought they were getting along fine. They were but he's carrying baggage from the war.
He keeps telling her to go away. She does. Then they run into each other again. She tries to give him love, he rejects it. The secret here is don't give up. It also helps to have good friends on your side!
