The Puzzle of the Happy Hooligan by Stuart Palmer, Otto Penzler

Hildegarde is working as a technical advisor on a Lizzie Borden film in Los Angeles.  She didn't expect the guy across the hall to get killed.  She also didn't expect the cop on the lot to call it an accident.

American Mystery Classics and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published, so you can grab a copy now.

Hildegarde calls her cop back home and tells him what's going on.  She even runs across a name that is familiar to him and he's anxious to stop the bad guy, so he's on the next flight out.  But the bad guy is smoke and mirrors.  So who is really breaking necks on the lot?  And why?

I really enjoy Hildegarde.  She's all common sense, never jumps to conclusions, and she always ends up solving the case.  What more could you want?

This Is a Whoopsie! by Andrew Cangelose, Josh Shipley

This is a story about a clumsy moose.  A moose is athletic, agile, and able to do a lot of physical athletic things.  Not Whoopsie.

Lion Forge and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published October 16th.

Whoopsie is clumsy.  He can hardly walk without trouble and you should see him run!

He manages to knock the text down off a page and tries to put it back together.  His nonsensical sentences will make you laugh!

This is a funny story about a silly moose that will make you smile and keep you smiling even after you've read it.  Check it out.

The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story by Rory Feek

Who ever heard a cow go neigh?  Wait until you meet all the animals on this farm.  Not one makes the right kind of noise!

Thomas Nelson's Children's Books and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published so you can grab a copy now.

The cutest is watching the dog meow.  And if that's not enough for you, the farmer moos...

Mistletoe and Murder by Robin Stevens

Daisy and Hazel are getting to spend Christmas is in Cambridge.  The boy's hall is much more exciting but they're not allowed in very often.  When one of the twin boys dies, they are determined to find out why.

Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers and Edelweiss allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published so you can buy a copy now.

The boy who died was not the one expected.  They thought the other one was being endangered.  Then the second one died.  Who killed them?  Who thought they would get the inheritance?  And when they know the answer, will they survive?

Don't Wake the Tiger! (A Changing Faces Book) By Nathan Thoms and Illustrator Carles Ballesteros

This is a fun book to read.  Each page you turn wakes the animal up!

Abrams Appleseed sent me a copy of this book to read for review (thank you).  It is being published today.

There's a tiger, panda, lion and elephant and they all wake up as you turn the pages.  What fun for a little one!  Who do you have around your house that you don't want to wake up?  At home, it was Daddy.  He worked nights and slept during the day.  He was almost as bad as a lion if you woke him up early...

Witness Impulse and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you).  It has been published so you can grab a copy now.

The winning story is about sitting at a stop sign and seeing your uncle killed by a stray bullet in a gang shooting.  The only problem is the essay is her cousin's and it was about her father.  While V I tries to straighten out teen jealousies and what's fair, she suddenly knows who the killer is.  But can she stop them without them stopping her?

Farrar, Straus, and Giroux Books for Young Readers and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you).  It will be published October 9th.

Her first customer is a man with a parrot.  He has to go on trip and wants her to care for his bird.  She agrees.  But when she goes to the house the next day, the door isn't shut and she finds his suitcase on the floor only partially packed.  She waits the 24 hours needed to turn it in.  The suitcase is missing and the cop thinks she may be lying to him.  He tends to ignore her.

She's made a new friend (she's taking care of her horse) and they decide to investigate themselves.  It's a plot thirty years old with Russians involved and her estranged grandfather in the middle.

It's a good mystery and I liked the interaction between the two girls and the animals.  I'd read another in this series.
