An Honest Lie by Tarryn Fisher

This is a story of a cult that is run by one man.  Her mother knew him in childhood, and she needed a place to stay, so she packs up her and her daughter and goes to join him.

Graydon House sent me a copy of this book to read for review (thank you).  It has been published, so you could get a copy now.

Rainy doesn't like the compound but her mother has nowhere else to go.

The longer they are here, the worse it gets. She and her mother get separated.  Any back talk or refusal to do something is punished.

And then her mother is dead.  The leader says she was on drugs, but Rainy doesn't believe him.

It gets more and more dangerous.  Rainy gets punished often.  Will she survive or will she get killed like her mother?
