Ocean of Dust by Graeme Ing

She was just heading back to her mother when she got knocked down by a snooty boy who had very nice clothes on.  He acted like it was her fault, and it wasn't.  She didn't have much time to dwell on the matter because they were both gathered up by big ugly sailors and stuck below board on a boat.

Goddess Fish Blog Tours and the author gave me the opportunity read this book for review and participate in the tour.  You can find the book on Amazon and other places that sell ebooks or get it in print.

The ocean in this world is not like the water one we enjoy.  This one is dust and you have to use a certain mechanic device to find the flux and move the boat across the ocean.  The dust fascinated Lissa, but she was afraid to try swimming in it.  Soon she was too far away to worry about it.

This is the stuff of nightmares, but I really enjoyed reading this book.

She's kidnapped, stuck in the kitchen with a girl who hates her because she's fast and efficient after working with her mother, and she gets little to eat and a cramped quarters to sleep.  The worst part is Farq.  He's a sadistic mean first officer who would as soon kill her as look at her.  She must be perfect around him or suffer the punishment.  With nerves and no sea legs, she soon gets in trouble.

She has few friends on board, but she finds she has a very unusual talent she wasn't aware of it.  The sea and the things it talk to her...

This is mystical, magical story that has a lot of danger, greed, and just plain meanness mixed in.  The story moves fast even if it's mostly aboard a boat, and I had no idea how it was going to end.  It kept me reading to the end and it also maintained my interest.  Why don't you give it a try?

Graeme will be awarding a $20 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour, and a $20 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn host.
