PRINCESS INTERRUPTED by Michael Rothman

Arabelle likes to sleep late, be spoiled and just generally act like a princess.  She likes to shop, loves her horse, and enjoys her privileges.  Her life is about to change...

Mr. Rothman and Goddess Fish Blog allowed me to read a copy of this ebook for review (thank you).  It has been published in both print and ebook form, so look for a copy now.

Arabelle likes to snoop in woods.  She's always trying to find the elves that live there.  What she didn't expect was to find was a poisonous dragon that almost kills her.  If the elf hadn't been close, she would have been dead.  As it is, they are able to save her but they can't completely heal her; her life style has to change.  She can only take naps, no long sleeps anymore.  She has to work out to keep the poison from settling in her and stopping her breathing.  That's good incentive, even for a princess.

This series is written for young adults, but it's no namby pamby story.  There is a war between good and evil here, and people die.  This princess grows from a spoiled girl into a warrior that is not afraid to kill when needed.  She learns to use powders to make people sleep, lose their memories and more.  She has to fight to stay alive and the danger is never far away.

As she practices and fights, she also sees a vision of a blue eyed boy that will become her mate.  She tries to find him but has no chance to contact him.  She finally sees him and says a few words to him, but her father is taking her home and she has no time to visit.  She does tell her father that she's going to marry him, but I don't think he was really listening.

The players change but the story goes on.  Arabelle hasn't been able to connect with the blue eyed boy.  A small dwarf shapeshifter is currently a swamp cat raising a family with his spouse.  The evil wizard is still alive and well.  And this war isn't over yet.

I enjoyed reading this one because it took Arabelle from a spoiled little princess and trained her to be a warrior that can defend herself and assassinate enemies.  That's quite a feat.  It helps when you have some elf friends.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.  Why don't you give Arabelle a chance and see what you think?

I love it when characters change drastically over the course of a book. Sounds like Arabella really grows up!
